In a powerful demonstration recently of partnership during Child Protection Week, Jessica Erasmus, Founder of the Guardians Of The Net, together with Mr. Johan Claasens of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Wayne van Onselen from Unchain Our Children (UOC) and the South African Police Service’s Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) unit, engaged with learners and teachers at Kameeldrift Primary School and Die Poort Primary School. The event highlighted Jessica’s innovative Guardians of the Net protection plan, aimed at equipping children and caregivers with essential tools to navigate the digital world safely.

Education as the Cornerstone of Prevention
Central to the initiative is the urgent need to educate youth, parents, and teachers. With rising cases of child abuse, grooming, and trafficking in South Africa and globally, empowering the next generation is critical.

“Education of children and their caregivers is the main focus,” emphasized Jessica. “By teaching young people to identify risks and seek help, communities can prevent exploitation before it occurs”.

Jessica’s Guardians of the Net program delivers practical, accessible education through high-quality booklets offering guidelines on online safety for children, parents, and educators.

Partnerships are a United Front
These partnerships and educational drives signal a united front.
