Jacaranda and Louis Botha Children’s Homes Celebrate Supporters with Heartwarming Concert

Pretoria, 23 June 2026 - In a moving display of gratitude, Jacaranda Children’s Home and Louis Botha Children’s Home hosted a celebratory concert on Tuesday, at the Atterbury Theatre in Lynnwood. The event honored the sponsors, donors, and supporters who have walked alongside the two homes over many years in their mission to care for vulnerable children.

The two homes collectively nurture approximately 300 children aged 3 to 18, providing them with a stable, loving environment. Tuesday’s concert served as a heartfelt thank you to the broader community that makes this work possible.

The evening featured inspiring performances by the children currently residing at the homes. Their choirs and solo items showcased remarkable talent and dedication, captivating the audience.

Former residents, now grown, married, and thriving, were the guests of honor. Their powerful personal testimonies of the love, care, and support they received while living at the homes deeply moved everyone present.

Among the invited guests were Wayne van Onselen, Founder and Executive Director of Unchain Our Children (UOC), and his wife Bianca, Financial Director of the organization. Sponsors, donors, and long-term supporters thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s program.

“It was a celebration of gratitude, connection and purpose,” said Suzette Kotze, COO and Head of Children’s Affairs for both homes.

Local business Stephnie's Restaurant (Lynnwood Bridge) generously sponsored the catering, while the Atterbury Theatre (Lynnwood Bridge) provided the venue free of charge, contributing to the success of the event.

The program was further elevated by guest artist Pieter Macato, a well-known South African singer, songwriter, and musician, whose powerful vocals and skilled guitar performance earned enthusiastic applause.

The evening highlighted not only the artistic abilities of the children but also the lasting impact of consistent care and community support. Events like this strengthen bonds between the homes and their partners, reinforcing a shared commitment to transforming young lives.
