Pretoria, July 18, 2025 – Phoenix Medical Technologies, a Gauteng-based company, made a significant donation of Food Sock products to Geseende Hande Soup Kitchen in Danville, Pretoria, yesterday. Robin Herbst, the company’s Gauteng representative, personally delivered the supplies and served meals alongside the Geseende Hande’s Team to vulnerable families in the community.

Robin’s commitment stems from a family tradition of aiding those in need. “Giving to organizations like Geseende Hande makes a huge difference,” she said. “A little goes a long way for those with nothing. I’m deeply grateful to the recipients for their warmth despite their hardships—it reminds us to stay thankful.”

South Africa grapples with severe challenges: 15 million people—25% of the population—face food insecurity, unable to afford adequate nutrition. Unemployment affects 8.2 million people, a 33.5% rate, exacerbating poverty. With government feeding programs nearly non-existent, non-profits like Geseende Hande depend on private support to provide daily meals, clothing, and essentials.

Phoenix Medical Technologies, headquartered in Cape Town, exemplifies corporate social responsibility, extending its generosity to communities in both Gauteng and the Western Cape. The company’s mission—“With a relentless pursuit of innovation, we are dedicated to discovering and implementing cutting-edge technologies that enhance patient care and improve outcomes”—guides its community efforts, aligning innovation with compassion.
Founded 17 years ago by Esther Malan, Geseende Hande believes nutritious food is a human right. Partnered with Unchain Our Children, the organization serves free hot meals to Danville’s vulnerable, sustained by donations from businesses like Phoenix Medical Technologies and caring individuals.

“Without the generosity of our donors, we couldn’t continue,” Esther said. “Every contribution helps us provide hope and nourishment.”Robin urged businesses and philanthropists to step up. “Get involved—your support transforms lives,” she said.
