A longstanding partnership between Catherine Keyworth and Unchain Our Children (UOC) once again delivered practical care to a vulnerable community this past weekend. On Saturday, 10 October 2026, 110 dogs and cats received free rabies vaccinations, deworming and basic health checks at Reddingsdaad, 79 Viviers Street, Danville.

Residents arrived throughout the afternoon with their pets, ready to take that protective step. The turnout demonstrated both the need in the community and the value of partnerships between non-profit organizations and community-focused companies that choose to invest where it matters most.

Catherine Keyworth, Arcadia CID Manager and Tsotsoletso Operations and Development Executive, has supported UOC for many years. She consistently advocates the organization’s work within her professional network and secures the resources needed to turn community needs into action.

Reflecting on the drive, Catherine said:

"For me, this is simply about caring for our community and the animals that are part of it. A rabies vaccination can make such a difference, and when people and organizations come together, we can make that kind of care accessible to those who need it most.”

The event was made possible by dedicated sponsors who supplied both vaccines and the professional staff to administer them: Menlyn Vet Practice, Moreletapark Animal Hospital & De Katz Hotel, Faerie Glen Animal Clinic and Zoetis Animal Health. Their involvement goes beyond a single outreach. It reflects a strategic, predictable approach to corporate social responsibility — investing in communities in ways that build lasting bonds between business and the people they serve.

Rabies remains one of the most feared and preventable threats to both animals and people. Transmitted through the saliva or bite of an infected animal, the virus attacks the central nervous system. Once clinical symptoms appear, the disease is almost invariably fatal, with no effective treatment or cure available. Vaccination remains the single most reliable safeguard, protecting individual animals, the families who care for them, and the wider community.

UOC Founder and Executive Director Wayne van Onselen has repeatedly highlighted the importance of such sustained collaboration. When NPOs and businesses work together with consistency rather than one-off gestures, vulnerable communities gain reliable access to essential services and greater dignity.

The successful drive at Reddingsdaad stands as practical proof of that principle.
