On December 10, 2025, the Heart of Stella Foundation, led by Managing Director Callyn Bowler, hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration in Pretoria, shining a spotlight on their enduring partnership with Unchain Our Children. This enchanting event brought together over 80 children from places of safety across Gauteng, transforming a simple gathering into a beacon of hope, joy, and unity for vulnerable young ones often overlooked in South Africa's child protection challenges.

The synergy between the two organizations—Heart of Stella's focus on rescuing and nurturing victims of trafficking and abuse, and Unchain Our Children's mission to advocate for child safety and empowerment—created a profound impact. By pooling resources and expertise, they deliver holistic support: from creche makeovers and food gardens to essential supplies and anti-trafficking initiatives. This collaboration not only addresses immediate needs but fosters long-term resilience, reminding children they are valued and protected.

As Callyn Bowler reflected, "In a country where child protection challenges remain immense, standing together in one space—united by compassion, hope, and a shared purpose—felt nothing short of extraordinary."

The day unfolded like a fairy tale at the stunning Butterfly Sky Venue. Callyn and her dedicated team meticulously prepared 80 deluxe gifts, each exquisitely wrapped and personalized. Children's names adorned the Christmas tree, a thoughtful gesture that boosted their sense of individuality and belonging.

Wide-eyed with wonder, the kids awaited Santa—played by Wayne Van Onselen, Founder of Unchain Our Children—who distributed presents amid peals of laughter and excitement. The air buzzed with pure innocence as they savored sweet treats, a nourishing lunch, and fresh fruit, many forging new friendships before heading home.

Observing evidence of children’s innocence didn’t disappoint – a tiny tot sizing up Santa with a stare; a little hand reaching for a cup cake and the hand of his new friend.

Callyn, a passionate advocate for childhood magic, treasures these moments. Honoured with the 2024 Unchain Angels award alongside Chanel Long of KidsCare, she leads with unwavering enthusiasm, organizing events that light up little eyes with joy.

"As Director of the Heart of Stella Foundation, it was a profound honour to prepare these gifts—some for children who couldn’t attend but will receive theirs soon," she shared. "We stand firmly by our belief that children are our little starfish, each one worthy of being cherished, protected, and celebrated—one precious memory at a time."
