K.O.P Football Initiative Invited UOC to join Charity Soccer Day
Recently, Unchain Our Children was invited by David Ribeiro to the annual K.O.P Charity Soccer Day, made possible by Marcel’s Hope, where boys and girls in and around Pretoria were treated to a soccer game together with Vets, players, coaches and other members. The Legend, Mark Fish personally met and greeted the children to their great delight and committed his full support investing in youth football for all.
The invitation came as a result of the much loved and well known Jill Ribeiro’s support of Unchain Our Children. Jill has been a longstanding Friend and Advocate of Unchain Our Children’s cause. Her ongoing support of the organization’s actions prompted her son David Ribeiro, owner and technical director of The Football Union, to reach out and involve UOC in his sport projects.
David Ribeiro, an ex-professional soccer player and goalkeeper coach for the South African U17 Women’s team, holds a sports science degree, excelled in both playing and coaching. He dedicates his time coaching for the Uganda National Women’s teams and developing young talent and contributing to the growth of soccer nationally. An inspiration and role model for young players, David obtained coaching certifications from South African Football Association (SAFA), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Football Association (FA). He also holds a MA – FIFA Master in Sports business and Law.
K.O.P (Keep On Playing) encourages and enforces the important principle of never giving up but to keep going, an essential element of overcoming social, domestic and personal challenges – a sentiment Unchain Our Children instils in recovering victims and survivors of child abuse.
“Like-minded organizations like K.O.P serves as an important link to a child’s recovery journey and contributes greatly to the developing of latent talent. We are blessed and extremely grateful for David’s invitation to come on board”, said Wayne van Onselen, Founder and Executive Director of Unchain Our Children in his appreciation of David’s invitation.
This initiative is strengthening UOC’s actions to offer troubled youth opportunities to excel by participating in these sport days.
