Zoalize Jansen van Rensburg, the newly crowned Miss World South Africa 2024, and also a Friend and keen supporter of UOC who advocates for youth empowerment, was invited to visit Gracious Love, a place of safety in Wonderboom Pretoria today as part of an outreach where 18 learners from grade 1 to grade 9 were present to first hand learn about child safety and children’s rights.
Nicky McDonald, Senior Social Worker of Unchain Our Children has, upon request of their teachers, facilitated the visit and also spoke to the learners about UOC’s services and intervention when children are abused, neglected and when their rights are violated. Wayne van Onselen emphasized the importance of partnering with places of safety because it provides a caring and loving environment for the children to heal and thrive after much trauma.
Loads of lovely gifts were handed to the house parents of Gracious Love who enjoyed the presence of Miss World South Africa 2024 who was adored by everyone, especially the little girls who had their moment wearing the crown.
Gracious Love, established 3 years ago, cares for 7 children at the moment with the youngest, a baby of 16 months and the oldest, 4 years. Food, clothes and other baby- and child necessities are always on their wish list.
“Faith is our only foundation. We trust the Lord to provide for us and witness His blessings every month”, said Charny Booysen, owner of Gracious Love who cares for the little ones.
