Chante Appleton, a 23-year-old finalist for the Mrs Klerksdorp beauty pageant, is making a meaningful impact in her community through her dedication to social causes and personal values. Her efforts extend beyond the pageant stage, reflecting a commitment to fostering positive change, particularly for young girls and women.

Unchain Our Children’s core mission is to protect children and vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse. “We have a victim-centric approach, aiming to move communities "from chaos to calm" by empowering survivors and preventing further victimization. This vision drives our comprehensive strategy, which includes direct intervention, recovery, counselling, and community education”  Wayne van Onselen, Founder and Executive Director UOC.

Community Engagement

Chante recently organized a significant speaking event at Kingston Private School in Klerksdorp, where Wayne van Onselen, Founder and Executive Director of Unchain Our Children, delivered an informative presentation on bullying and safety. The talk resonated deeply with students and teachers, highlighting Chante’s ability to facilitate impactful community initiatives.

Vision for Lifestyle Change

Chante’s mission is centered on promoting lifestyle changes that prioritize inner beauty over external appearances. She advocates for the cultivation of good habits, etiquette, and biblical values to build strong character, particularly among young girls.

Her philosophy is encapsulated in her statement, “If the root is poisoned, what fruit is the tree going to carry?” This reflects her belief that true femininity and confidence stem from a solid foundation of inner values, countering modern trends that emphasize artificial enhancements.

Commitment Beyond the Pageant

While competing for the Mrs. Klerksdorp crown, set to be awarded on July 5, Chante views the pageant as a platform for broader impact. She has stated, “Even if I don’t wear the crown on 5th of July, my mission is heartfelt and it will continue. The crown rewards more than beauty. The crown represents Impact.” Her dedication to this mission is evident in her ongoing efforts to raise awareness about bullying and abuse, issues she is passionate about addressing in her community.

Chante's Personal and Professional Dedication

As a devoted wife, mother, and career woman, Chante balances multiple roles with a purpose-driven approach. She is committed to personal growth, which she sees as essential for meeting life’s demands and serving her community effectively. Her enthusiasm for making a difference in the lives of young people underscores her holistic approach to leadership and service.

“Unchain Our Children is blessed to have such an incredible role model valuing young lives and we are looking forward to collaborating with Chante on her future projects”. Wayne van Onselen.
