As part of Sasol’s For Good (SFG) global employee volunteering and financial contribution program, a substantial donation of non-perishable food was recently delivered to Geseende Hande, a partner organization of Unchain Our Children. This generous act reflects Sasol’s commitment to uplifting communities by supporting non-profits like Geseende Hande, which provides nutritious meals to 800 families in Danville, Pretoria, each week.

The donation was a highlight of Sasol’s Mandela Day outreach, with Sasol Lotus Gardens, led by franchisee Chrissie Lemmer, choosing Geseende Hande as their charity of focus. Staff and management from Sasol, alongside Lemmer and her team, personally delivered the valuable gift boxes of dry food. Esther Malan, director of Geseende Hande, and Wayne van Onselen from Unchain Our Children warmly received the contribution.

“It felt like the heavens opened when we received these wonderful donations,” said Esther Malan, expressing gratitude for the support. Sasol’s commitment to community upliftment is evident in their Sasol for Good program, which integrates philanthropic giving, employee volunteering, and financial contributions into their Corporate Social Investment strategy, as highlighted on their website: Sasol for Good https://society.sasol.com/sasol-for-good/

In economically challenging times, with hunger affecting millions in South Africa, such donations are vital for sustaining Geseende Hande’s mission to provide food and care to less privileged families in Danville. Unchain Our Children continues to play a pivotal role in securing resources for Geseende Hande, ensuring ongoing support for the community.

A heartfelt thank you to Sasol, Sasol Lotus Gardens, and Chrissie Lemmer for their impactful contribution to this cause.
