Unchain Me: Affirming Femininity and Worth at Reddingsdaad

Pretoria, 22 August, 2026 - Every woman sometimes needs time out — a moment to be pampered, reminded that she matters, that she is enough, and that God created her for His glory. Such was the case when the ladies of Reddingsdaad were guests at an Unchain Me event on Saturday where they were gifted beautiful goodie bags, containing a variety of toiletries and other items, donated by Pick-‘n-Pay, Evocare and Pharmacy Direct.

“The Lord has a plan with everyone’s life and living is not over until it actually ends”, Bianca emphasized.

Bianca van Onselen, Financial Director of Unchain Our Children (UOC) and wife of founder Wayne van Onselen, established the Unchain Me initiative. It focuses on uplifting women in all walks of life and encouraging them to live fully despite their circumstances.

The theme, Bianca is weaving through these events, is based on the concept that ‘life isn’t over, until it is over’, casted in the saying, “It ain’t over until the fat lady sings”, meaning that current situations/circumstances can still change so don’t decide on the outcome of life/things before the very end.

“The aim of Unchain Me is to assist women to free themselves from burdens that keep them from peace, purpose and achieving their full potential and live a victorious life of faith,” Bianca said.

Unchain Me events blend serious conversation with enjoyment. At this gathering, the ladies received hair, make-up and nail treatments before an afternoon of beautifully decorated tables, live music by artist JDK and delicious snacks. A dedicated photo booth captured lasting memories. The programme underscores a core truth: femininity retains its value even amid hardship.

Suffering, sadness and neglect can leave women feeling invisible. Social interaction, motivational talk and physical care of hair, nails and make-up affirm a woman’s intrinsic worth and presence. Fun and laughter relieve stress and lift mood. The Reddingsdaad ladies experienced precisely this affirmation of their femininity and dignity.

Reddingsdaad in Danville is a charity organisation that has delivered community support for more than 35 years. UOC partners with such organisations through practical empowerment and sustained assistance. At Reddingsdaad, this has included inspiring resident-led maintenance and beautification projects that foster purpose and self-reliance, as well as broader support for the facility’s elderly residents during utility and resource challenges.
