Pretoria, 6 May 2026 – Unchain Our Children (UOC), marking a decade of unwavering dedication to protecting children from all forms of abuse and exploitation, continues to lead proactive initiatives in South Africa. On Wednesday, the organization hosted a vital network meeting at the Valley Methodist Church in Villieria, Pretoria, in partnership with the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks and Gauteng Social Development (GDSD).

This joint initiative brought together key stakeholders to address the escalating frequency and intensity of child trafficking and related crimes. As child exploitation continues to surge both locally and globally, UOC has consistently partnered with like-minded organizations and specialist law enforcement agencies to deliver impactful awareness programs These efforts aim to educate and empower parents, children, teachers, social workers, and professionals in the frontline fight against this heinous crime.

During the meeting, Amy Arnold, UOC’s Specialist Counter-Human Trafficking Operative, Investigator and Trainer, explained the critical role of law enforcement and child protection organizations in the reporting, investigation, and successful prosecution of human trafficking cases. Attendees included Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals, social workers, South African Police Service (SAPS) representatives, frontline and community workers, as well as several non-governmental organizations.

The gathering served as an important platform to foster stronger working relationships, improve coordination, and ensure a more unified response when protecting vulnerable children. Nicky McDonald, Senior Social Worker for UOC emphasized the need for continued collaboration.  Similar network meetings will be planned.

Through its 10-year commitment, Unchain Our Children remains steadfast in its mission: preventing abuse, supporting victims, and building a protective network of informed and vigilant communities across the country.
