Unchain Our Children is transforming South African communities by fostering safety, compassion, and connection among children. Through innovative programs and hands-on outreach, UOC partners with schools, emergency services, and young leaders to create environments where children feel secure and empowered.

One of UOC’s cornerstone initiatives is its collaboration with local emergency response teams during school outreach events. These visits introduce children to the vital roles of police, firefighters, and medical personnel, turning the sound of sirens into a symbol of safety rather than fear.

At a recent event at Gereformeerde School Dirk Postma, UOC’s senior social worker, Nicky McDonald, and founder Wayne van Onselen delivered engaging talks on child safety, responsible cellphone use, stranger danger, and emergency response protocols. The arrival of a police helicopter and fire engines captivated students, sparking awe and respect while reinforcing the message that help is always near.

Another impactful program is the Junior Battle Angel initiative, which inspires schoolchildren to show kindness to those in need. At Happy Sabby Creche in Danville, learners from Oos Moot Secondary School, guided by UOC’s ethos, arrived with donations for the young children.

The creche’s little ones responded with a heartwarming performance of song and dance, showcasing the joy of community connection. UOC’s direct engagement with communities—through relationship-building, resource-sharing, and heartfelt care—sets it apart. As the need for support among South Africa’s children grows, UOC invites corporates and businesses to join their mission, amplifying their impact in creating safer, more nurturing environments for the nation’s youth.
