Gesëende Hande, a soup kitchen in Danville, founded by Esther Malan in Danville Pretoria, has for many years been an oasis where many families find not only nutritious meals, but also heartfelt warmth and care from Esther and her team as they serve their community with regular meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays during the year while in December, when most organizations are closed, the families get a lovely meal every day of the week.

Last Sunday, more than 100 families lined up again for a great plate of steaming hot food and later, a slice of cake for good measure!  As life is getting more difficult every day, more and more people become destitute and Geseënde Hande receives food donations from Unchain Our Children on a regular basis in order to continue the incredible food project.

“We are so grateful for Wayne supporting our soup kitchen in every way and are blessed by his love, enthusiasm and dedication.”  Esther Malan, Director Geseënde Hande.

Behind the serving tables, volunteers and supporters of Geseënde Hande eagerly served and saw to it that everyone was helped.  On a red checkered tablecloth a variety of cakes were cut with care and handed to the people.  It was a team effort with Marie Els, Isabel Prins,  Rembu Munyai, Leonie Van Wyk, Izel Rykaart, and Patricia  strengthening Esther’s hands to feed the people.

Food for the soul was generously shared by Pastor Koos Kuhn from More Worship Church.

“Unchain Our Children remains fully supportive of Geseënde Hande in their admirable effort to continuously care for their community and we are blessed to contribute to the wellbeing of the recipients.”  Wayne van Onselen, Founder and Executive Director, Unchain Our Children.
