Unchain Our Children (UOC) has once again demonstrated its unwavering dedication to vulnerable children, not just during the festive season but throughout the year. Earlier this year, UOC embraced the Happy Sabby Daycare Centre—located in Hartfield Gamorra near the Daspoort tunnel in Pretoria—as one of its ongoing beneficiaries. This partnership culminated in a joyful Christmas celebration on 11 December, where generous gift packs, toys, and holiday spirit delighted the children and their devoted teachers.

Managed by the inspirational Sabina, a compassionate grandmother, Happy Sabby opens its doors as early as 04:00 to accommodate working parents dropping off their little ones en route to jobs. By 06:30, Sabina personally escorts the children to school, with many only collected at 18:00. Beyond basic care, she ensures they are nourished with meals, enriched through daily lessons, and uplifted with her heartfelt singing. Supported by eight dedicated teachers, the center stands out as a beacon of cleanliness, strong leadership, discipline, and pure joy in an underserved community.

UOC's support extends far beyond Christmas: since their initial visit, the organisation has consistently provided essential food parcels, clothing, and toys, ensuring the children's needs are met year-round. This sustained commitment transforms lives, offering stability and hope where it's needed most.

The holiday event was nothing short of magical. Shekinah EMS 911, a key UOC partner, transported founder Wayne van Onselen—transformed into a jolly Santa—arriving in an emergency vehicle with flashing lights and blaring sirens. The children's eyes widened in awe as massive gift packs, often larger than the tiny recipients themselves, were distributed. Community members joined the excitement, snapping photos with Santa amid the dazzling blue and red glow.

As Santa departed, his siren echoing into the distance and lights fading on the dusty road, the children chased after the vehicle, waving fervently until it vanished. Yet, the magic lingers—not just as a fleeting memory, but as a profound assurance that UOC cares deeply, consistently, and without end.
This is one of six special Christmas outreaches UOC organized this year for children in places of safety and less fortunate communities, underscoring their holistic, year-long mission to unchain futures one child at a time.
