BEDFORDVIEW CHILD GUARDIAN UNIT PRESENTED UOC WITH CHILDRENS CHAMPION AWARD

Bedfordview Child Guardian Unit awarded Unchain Our Children with the Children’s Champion Award as they acknowledged the active collaboration of UOC’s operatives, their dedication to the wellbeing of children and their swift respond time. Places of Safety and other role players were also awarded for their support.
They started off as part of the Bedfordview Community Police Forum (BCPF) and Victim Empowerment Group (VEG) but are now a registered NPC and awaiting their NPO registration.
Networking is of utmost importance for the CGU as there is strength in numbers. Like-minded organizations and individuals are part of their network and lend momentum to urgent safeguarding of children. CGU is a branch of the Victim Empowerment Group at Bedfordview SAPS and was founded by Janine Dalgleish and Delani Hollhumer.
They celebrated their first year as an organization in May 2025. Their purpose is evident in their enthusiasm to protect and empower children in need. The CGU surrounds themselves with willing, reliable organizations and individuals who don’t see helping children as a duty, but as a calling.
The CGU brings education to their community by awareness campaigns and active interventions. They can assist in open cases at SAPS and have a strong and admirable court support service.
The CGU also reaches out to their community, establishes the needs and visits corporates in the area to motivate and encourage them to sponsor necessary living essentials and/or school necessities to children to enable them to reach their full potential.
