Pretoria, August 29, 2025 - In a heartwarming milestone for community welfare, Geseende Hande, a vital food initiative founded by Esther Malan 15 years ago, has officially launched its brand-new kitchen and fully stocked pantry. This upgrade, showcased today in the Danville community, promises to enhance the project's capacity to provide nutritious meals to thousands of residents who rely on weekly distributions. The event marks a significant step forward in combating food insecurity, reflecting the dedication of partners like Unchain Our Children (UOC), who have been instrumental in making this vision a reality.

Geseende Hande began as a modest soup kitchen aimed at addressing hunger in the community. Over the years, it has grown into a beacon of hope, serving hot, nourishing plates to families, children, and individuals facing economic hardships.

Esther Malan, the passionate founder, has poured her heart into the project, transforming it into a lifeline for the community. The new facility features spacious store rooms brimming with essential supplies, including big pots gleaming on burners, ready to prepare sumptuous dishes.

"It was as if the heavens opened," Esther shared emotionally. "I looked at all the supplies with an incredibly grateful heart towards Wayne and Unchain Our Children, who were key in securing the sponsors that made this possible."

Unchain Our Children, an organization committed to fighting child abuse, human trafficking, and related violations, has been a longstanding supporter of Geseende Hande. Their involvement goes beyond financial aid; UOC has actively connected the project with generous donors to ensure sustainability.

Wayne, founder of UOC, expressed profound thanks to the contributing companies: Sasol, A4G Holdings, More Worship, and City Property, asset managers for Octodec's inner-city portfolio. An artist from AK47 Street Art did a great job with art on the walls. These partnerships have not only funded the kitchen's construction but also supplied vast quantities of food and other essentials, enabling the project to scale its operations.

The impact of this launch is profound. In Danville, where many struggle with daily meals, Geseende Hande's enhanced capabilities mean more reliable access to balanced nutrition, fostering healthier lives and stronger community bonds. This initiative aligns with UOC's broader mission to unchain vulnerable populations from cycles of poverty and exploitation by addressing basic needs like food security.

As Esther and her team fire up the stoves for the first time in the new space, the future looks brighter for Danville's residents. This collaboration exemplifies how collective efforts can create lasting change. With ongoing support from UOC and its partners, Geseende Hande is poised to continue its legacy of compassion, one plate at a time.
